Liberation or Escapism?

Amuse my thoughts on this for a little, will ya?

What if liberation theory is just another way of thinking or idealizing/idolizing a form of utopia unattainable that we continue to hold on to because it helps us cope with the fact that there are some things we don’t want to work on ourselves for?

So we continue to work on this thing, in the form of criticizing the current systems because to do the work it takes beyond that would take a huge amount of work that would involve more than just ourselves and it’s a lot easier to stay in the convenient spaces we sit in currently because while we hate it, we don’t know how to make other people do the thing we want them to do but we also don’t have the bandwidth to face ourselves?

It’s a lot easier to stay in the convenient spaces we sit in currently because while we hate it, we don’t know how to make other people do the thing we want them to do but we also don’t have the bandwidth to face ourselves?

To make it more simple in an analogy: It is easier to tell our partner what THEY are doing wrong AND what they must do to make us feel okay because to do the work to actually face the reality we fear in ourselves would be too painful, much more inconvenient to face and deal with.

When the truth is they could very well be doing a lot of things wrong but YOU…. What are you actually doing to help yourself besides crying to your partner at how fucked up they are OR saying “fuck this I’m leaving” Leave or not, do you ever face yourself though + the role you play?

Do we ever think… what role do we play in our suffering outside of what society does to us? Sure our behaviors don’t exist in a vacuum, but do we give up more power than we care to honestly admit to ourselves?

How sure are you that you would be different if only your circumstances would be different and if you haven’t taken the steps to make major strides? You only make changes that are more digestible to you because idk (I don’t know…) you feel like this struggle gotta mean something.

Yes if the thing is worth it, it might feel like a struggle sometimes but not the other way around…. Things don’t have to be a struggle to the degree where you are miserable.

Challenges and mastery are something we love as humans but somehow we go overboard and take on challenges that we are not quite at the bandwidth to take over and then wonder why life is unfair to us.

I mean life is always unfair but you don’t have to make shit harder…
